Board of Directors
It is a little known fact that Humboldt Educare is the only non-state-run nonprofit preschool in Humboldt County. We are governed by a four to nine member Board of Directors. Board members can include current or past parents, as well as community members who are interested in the value of a play based preschool program. Board members commit to a two year term and receive a 10% discount off of Humboldt Educare Preschool fees. Serving on the Board provides the opportunity to participate in a democratic process while building, managing, and improving our school.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Our Board mission is to support and preserve Humboldt Educare Preschool by facilitating a sustainable and consistent program, with strong community presence and integration, and to find a long-term, self-owned facility that meets our program needs.
Current Roles and Duties:
Assist and support the Director in making sure our program is strong and provides services that match our mission
Develop and organize fundraising events
Oversee and maintain the financial strength of the organization by managing the budget and financial planning
Maintain legal and ethical best practices as a nonprofit organization
Current Projects and Goals:
Enhancing the Humboldt Educare program to be a unique and competitive program for our area
- Planning for and finding our own independently owned, permanent site
Improving and updating our policies, strategic plan, and fundraising efforts
WHEN DO WE DO IT?
Once a month, typically the second Wednesday of the month, from 5:30-7:30
